The hammer has fallen. The deadly Sage Flu has been unleashed. The scramble for survival is in full force.

Martina Gable and her family escaped to a secluded mountain cabin in hopes of avoiding the death sweeping the desert valley below, but have they gone far enough?

Dominic Ray, manager of a tropical, private island resort, has a dream job. The weather, the food, the drinks, the people—life couldn't be better. What he didn’t expect—what no one could have expected—was that his good life was about to disappear.

In a sea of the sick and dying, Sanjay and Kusum desperately search for a place beyond Mumbai where they and the group they are leading can be safe, and where they can prepare for what the future may bring.

Brandon Ash wants nothing more than to be with his father and sister, but there is something waiting for him on a deserted, snow-covered highway. Something that may mean the reunion will never happen.

As Daniel Ash, Brandon's father, lies unconscious from the serious wounds he suffered while hunting for his son, his daughter Josie realizes it's up to her to find her brother and bring him home. But the search will be a dangerous one, that will take her far from home.

And then there is Project Eden, watching the plague kill as they had planned, even as they prepare to activate the next phase.

What will you do to survive?

Here's what others are saying

“Sick didn’t just hook me. It hit me with a devastating uppercut on every primal level as a parent, a father, and a human being.” — BLAKE CROUCH, author of the Wayward Pines Trilogy

“Sick is a a gem of an outbreak story that unfolds like a thriller movie and never lets up all the way to the last page. Absolutely my favorite kind of story!” — JOHN MABERRY, New York Times bestselling author

“Sick not only grabs you by the throat, but by the heart and gut as well, and by the time you finish you feel as if you've just taken a runaway train through dangerous territory. Buy this book now. You won't regret it.”—ROBERT BROWNE, author of The Paradise Prophecy.

“Like a fever, Sick makes you sweat and keeps you up all night, wondering what the hell is happening. It'll make your heart race like someone shot you with an EpiPen. You think Battles was badass before? He just cranked it up to 500 joules. CLEAR!”—popculturenerd.com

“Sick is Brett Battles at his best, a thriller that also chills, with a secret at its core that's almost too scary to be contained within the covers of a book.” — TIM HALLINAN, author of the Edgar nominated THE QUEEN OF PATPONG

Ashes A Project Eden Thriller Book 4 eBook Brett Battles

This review is for the entire Project Eden series. As with other Battles' books, I was drawn into the action immediately. Between each book, the wait for each next book in the series seemed untenably hard to bear.

Right from the beginning when Daniel Ash awakes in confusion, finding his daughter desperately ill and even worse going on all around him, plot momentum builds along with suspense and an awareness that this illness is more than it seems. I've struggled with how to write this review to do it justice and not give away the secrets of the plot.

The fast-moving story line sucked me into the action. Believable characters made me care what happened to them. A couple reviewers mentioned flaws in the personality of the main character, Daniel Ash. Specifically, someone called him flat. Personally, considering what the main character endures just in the opening chapters, flatness at first proves realistic. For me, I felt the character's portrayal accurately transforms through stages of shock, grief, desperation and anger as he gradually discovers the truth about what has happened to his family. The reactions of Ash hold true as knowledge begins to dawn upon him and others, and as the deadly illness continues spreading. What do you do when you don't know whom to trust? Who are the good guys? Who are the bad guys? When reality begins contradicting core beliefs, how far do you go? As part of the new Project Eden Series, SICK leaves lots of room for intriguing continuation of stories that answer these questions and more. The other books in the series begin to answer all of these questions and keep up the action and intrigue.

The entire series proved greatly enjoyable to read, and I highly recommend SICK, the entire Project Eden Series and other Battles' books (THE CLEANER, THE DECEIVED, SHADOW OF BETRAYAL, LITTLE GIRL GONE)...all that caused me to lose sleep as I was hooked into the plots. Be sure to start SICK when you have a span of uninterrupted time. You might resent having to put it down...I did. I was also very glad I picked it up. I have now read every book in this series, and all are fast-moving, intriguing and wickedly good.

Ashes A Project Eden Thriller Book 4 eBook Brett Battles Reviews

This is a good series. SERIES. That means you will have to wait for the next installment. I hate that, but I'm a series junkie so I'm used to it. But unlike some other series I'm reading, this one doesn't have different stories with the same characters. This is one story that doesn't end. It's like reading one chapter and then having to wait for the author to write the next chapter.
Those of you just starting on the series need to start with "Sick" and read forward. The books are worth reading and worth the wait. The story line is simple. The bad guys want to kill everyone in the world except themselves and start the world all over again.
What I like most is the good guys lost round one and I honestly can't see how they're going to win in the end. Losing round one is killing millions of people. How do you come back from that? I'm sure Brett Battles has figured out a way. And since I'm definitely rooting for the good guys, I can't wait to see how they pull it off.
Actually, I am waiting - with bated breath and on pins and needles. And I wish Brett Battles could clone himself and get these books out faster.
So the Project Eden series is no where near as interesting as Jonathan Quinn. I don't even like it as much as the Logan Harper series. In fact I was not planning on reading past the first book but then I got curious and started the 2nd book and then I couldn't stop because the story never stopped. Before I knew it I was 5 books in and still not really wanting to continue the series. It's not that it's bad. I don't think Brett Battles could write anything bad. I just don't find it that interesting. I think the main characters are predictable and the story is ok if you like end of the world sensation. There's a lot going on in these books and it is non stop action which is why I give it 4 stars. And I know I'll keep reading so I can know how it ends but I really wish it was over and I sincerely hope that when I do finish whenever this series ends that it had a happy ending or I will be really really upset! If you're a Brett Battles fan ( and I am) you might get into this series; I know a lot of people have. I however will be really happy when it's done and I can look forward to more Quinn.
Here, Battles adjusts the style of the tale slightly again. We still get a sense of a global Apocalypse through the reports from India, a new island in Costa Rica not in the prior books, California, Wisconsin, and Colorado, but here the countdown - fairly ineffective in PALE HORSE - really drives the point home. Meanwhile, instead of the shotgun "let's go to all kinds of places" approach that seemed to drive PALE HORSE, we get just a few threads to follow here. Most of the tale winds up focusing on efforts to locate Brandon Ash, and the other two dominant threads are the Costa Rican island and the Ridgecrest survivors in California. All told, the story is yet again done superbly, and yet again I'm glad I waited to read them so that I can read all of them at once without having to wait for the next one to be written.
